BBB celebrates National Small Business Week
AUSTIN, Texas – May 17, 2012 – National Small Business Week is May 20 – 26 and Better Business Bureau is taking this opportunity to celebrate the growing number of small businesses in our country.
According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, 60 to 80 percent of new jobs are created by the approximately 27.2 million small businesses in the U.S. It is estimated that more than half of Americans either own or work for a small business.
In honor of National Small Business Week, BBB is encouraging small business owners to take advantage of the many resources both BBB and the Federal Trade Commission have available:
BBB Code of Business Practices
The BBB Code of Business Practices represents sound advertising, selling and customer service practices that enhance customer trust and confidence in business. This Code should be a roadmap for creating and managing a trustworthy business.

BBBs review local advertisements and work with companies to adhere to the BBB Code of Advertising, which lays out principles, definitions and suggestions for ethical advertising that all businesses can adopt.
